There was disappointment for the two Irish canoeists in action yesterday at the slalom World Cup event in Penrith, Sydney, with neither qualifying for today's finals.

Eadaoin Ni Challarain's season ended with a 21st place in the women's K1 category, with only 15 qualifying for the final. She will know over the next few days whether she has secured her Olympic place because one of the qualifiers is set to be removed after an objection on nationality grounds.

Tadhg McIntyre, competing in the Canadian singles, also failed to make the final yesterday finishing 25th.
