O'TOOLES of Dublin qualified for their first provincial hurling final when they overcame Seir Kieran in the semi final replay at O'Moore Park on Saturday.
Although the Offaly champions were first to score - a point by Kieran Kiely after a minute - that was the only time they led. Paul Donohoe opened the O'Tooles account after three minutes and Eamon Morrissey gave them the lend a minute later.
O'Tooles second Kilkennyman, Jamesie Brennan, had two points in as many minutes and by the end of the first quarter they led 0-5 to 0-2.
The Offaly champions were thrown a lifeline 20 minutes into the game when full forward Mick Mulrooney finished a Kieran Dooley centre to the net. However, in the final 10 minutes of the opening half O'Tooles stretched their lead with a succession of points from Morrissey and Brennan and at half time they led 0-12 to 1-4.
In the last quarter the Offaly champions hit three good points in succession and hen Joe Dooley had a goal a minute from time only three points separated the sides. However, time ran out and O'Tooles advanced to meet the Laois champions Camross in the provincial final next Sunday.
