Laudrup expected to leave Rangers

BRIAN LAUDRUP is expected to confirm later this week that he will be leaving Rangers after three successful years

BRIAN LAUDRUP is expected to confirm later this week that he will be leaving Rangers after three successful years. The 28-year-old Danish striker has a year to run on his contract and manager Walter Smith is understandably reluctant to let his £4.5 million-rated striker go.

But Laudrup, who helped his country defeat Bosnia 2-0 in a World Cup qualifier yesterday is adamant he wants to leave Ibrox, and Ajax head the queue.

"I think it will be wise for everyone if I was to leave Rangers now, he told a Danish newspaper yesterday. "They could make money from a deal but not in a year's time. From a personal point of view this is not about money, but about ambition."

Manchester United are also in the running to secure his services and the move to Ajax could hinge on his brother Michael joining the Dutch giants from Kobe.
