LEINSTER maintained their stranglehold at schools interprovincial level with a clear cut win over Ulster in this season's championship decider at Donnybrook yesterday.
Both sides contributed to an entertaining game. Leinster gained the upper hand early and then defended their lead superbly. Tries from Fergal Swords and Cormac Dowling and a Dara Kavanagh penalty gave Leinster a 13-0 lead after just 11 minutes.
Ulster got back into the game and David Wilmott's try left them trailing 13-5 at the break. Ulster's impressive outside-half, Johnny Patton, landed a 45th-minute dropped goal to leave just one score separating the sides.
However, fine defensive work kept Ulster at bay, and in the 56th minute, Brian Dineen was on hand to score under the posts and wrap up a deserved victory.
