Tipperary Football final/Loughmore 0-9 Moyle Rovers 0-6: Loughmore-Castleiney claimed a marvellous double on Saturday by defeating Moyle Rovers in the senior football final at Cashel.

Adding to their under-21 crown, won by also defeating Moyle Rovers, the Mid Tipperary champions were not at all flattered by the winning margin, which maintained the dual club's tradition of winning county finals that are played on a Saturday.

Loughmore were three points clear by the 14th minute, thanks to two frees by Declan Laffin and a point by Tommy Ormonde.

Declan Browne finished off Moyle Rovers' first serious attack with a 16th-minute point and, two minutes later, he added another.

Moyle Rovers were beginning to settle, but Micheál Webster shot a magnificant long-range point, before Browne again pointed a Moyle Rovers free.

Loughmore continued to hold the advantage, Tommy Ormonde had his second point in the 25th minute, before Martin 'Puddy' Gleeson rounded off the half with a Loughmore point to put them 0-6 to 0-3 ahead at the break.

Following the interval, Moyle Rovers cut the lead to a minimum with points by Ronan Desmond and Declan Browne, but Noel Cahill soon rose the Loughmore supporters in the crowd again with his, albeit brief, appearance.

Tommy Ormonde again pointed in the 14th minute and Declan Laffin claimed two more to put them four points clear.

There was no way back for Rovers, Loughmore conceding just one more point, to James Williams in the 27th minute.
