The Co Louth women's Senior Cup team bridged a 35-year gap at the Slieve Russell golf club on Saturday when they claimed the EDI-sponsored All-Ireland Senior Cup with a 3-2 win over the Curragh in a final that went to the last hole in the deciding match. Co Louth had not won the cup since 1965, and lost the last two finals. This year they had a few anxious moments before securing their victory. Patricia Nannery was dormie four up on Nicola Roughan in the deciding match but lost the 15th and found the water at 16. She then lost the 17th but secured the necessary half on the last. The other members of the Co Louth team were Paula Delaney, Jenny Gannon, Deirdre Smith and Oonagh Purfield.
