Rathmore 20-year-old Graeme McDowell clinched his third title in three weeks by retaining the Canon Irish Youths' Championship at Malone.

McDowell began his glory trip by winning the Leinster Championship at Laytown & Bettystown, then romped home at Royal Portrush in the Irish Close before holding onto the youths' crown for a second year in a row. His eight-under-par 276 was five strokes ahead of the field and he never went over par in the four rounds. This week, McDowell is on his travels again as he heads to Brassie in Scotland for the European Youths' Team Championship along with Justin Kehoe, who was second at Malone. McDowell had five shots to spare over Kehoe after rounds of 69, 69, 71 and 67 for a total of 276, with Sean McTernan (Co Sligo) and David Jones (City of Derry) sharing third place on 283, followed by the Stackstown pair of Michael McDermott and Mark Campbell.
