Golf:Ireland's European champion Rory McIlroy is ranked third in the latest version of the new world amateur rankings. The 17-year-old from Holywood, Co Down, has an average of 1,120 points, just 47 points behind world number one Richie Ramsay of Scotland, winner of the US Amateur last August. In second is England's Jamie Moul.
Spaniard Pablo Martin and Korean Kyung Tae Kim are fourth and fifth, then comes Welshman Rhys Davies, a team-mate of Ramsay's at the 2005 Walker Cup.
The rankings are produced by the Royal and Ancient Club, who are monitoring the performances of 1,200 players in 450 ranking events. They will determine exemptions into the British Amateur championship at Royal Lytham in June.
