The American left-hander's two-stroke win over South African Tim Clark in the first major of the year pushed him up to second in the rankings for the first time since 2003.
   
Fijian Vijay Singh dropped to third while South African Retief Goosen went down to fourth.
   
Clark's runner-up finish elevated him to 15th while Spain's Jose Maria Olazabal and Chad Campbell of the US, joint third alongside Goosen, world number one Tiger Woods and American Fred Couples, moved up to 12th and 14th respectively.

Darren Clarke remains the highest ranked Irish player despite dropping two places to 15th. Padraig Harrington slipped back one place to 30th, while Paul McGinley moved up one spot to 31st even though the Dubliner missed the cut at Augusta.
