PAUL COLE celebrated a second win in the Group One Gran Premio di Milano (12f) yesterday after Strategic Choice downed Clive Brittain's Luso in the four runner affair at San Siro.

Luso set out to make all under Michael Kinane, but Strategic Choice (Richard Quinn) slipped through on his inner going into the final bend and ran on well for a length and a half success.

Godolphin's King's Theatre, on whom John Reid deputised for Ray Cochrane, took third four and three quarter lengths further adrift as the smallest field ever contested the Gran Premio.

. Apprentice jockey Paul Fessey faces another night in hospital following his fall from Secret, Voucher in Saturday's William Hill Trophy Handicap at York.

A hospital spokesperson said: "He is satisfactory. He has a hand injury which is causing him some discomfort and he will be kept in for another day at least."

Fessey's mount Secret Voucher broke his shoulder when falling approaching the three furlong marker in the York feature and was subsequently put down.

The combination were in the lead at the time and travelling at about 40mph when the incident occurred, bringing down Seb Sanders and Spotted Eagle in the process.

. Mongol Warrior, ridden by David Harrison, continued his successful overseas run by becoming the first British trained winner of the Swiss Derby (12f) at Frauenfeld, Zurich yesterday afternoon.

The Lord Huntingdon trained runner added to previous victories at Cagnes and Munich by sluicing home by five and a half lengths from Shturm in a final time of two minutes 31.80 seconds. The winner was a 7 to 10 shot on the Tote.
