Two streakers who interrupted Australia's World Cup game against Romania escaped a cover-up because Irish officials turned down an offer from Guinness.

Cup sponsors Guinness last month unveiled an "anti-streaker kit, a spring-loaded tube made of spinnaker fabric and strengthened with steel rods that could be slipped over "any fans that are keen to show off their vital statistics".

"Designed with the female form in mind, it should fit 95 per cent of the population," Guinness said.

"The ball is in their court whether to take it up or not," said a Guinness spokeswoman.
