Women's football Round-up: An experienced Monaghan team booked their place in the final of the Ulster women's senior championship by defeating Down 4-12 to 4-7 in Clones yesterday.
Monaghan led at half-time by 2-5 to 2-2 with goals by Aisling Tierney and Orla Callan, while Down's strike came from Kyla Trainor and Eliza Downey.
The second half turned into a frantic contest with goals from both sides seeing fortunes ebb and flow but it was Monaghan who finished the stronger.
An early Down goal by Jenna Connell ignited the second half but Monaghan responded with a goal and five points, Diane Dempsey getting the first of her two goals to help Monaghan regain control and a seven-point lead.
Tranior pulled back a goal for Down but Diane Dempsey struck for her second goal to wrap up the result.
Meanwhile in the Connacht championship, All-Ireland champions Mayo beat Galway by 3-16 to 1-12 at McHale park on Saturday.
In Munster, Kerry had a narrow 2-14 to 3-10 victory over Cork in Carrigaline on Saturday to reach the final. They will play Waterford who were given a walkover after their match with Clare was cancelled.
