The main talking point at Brewster Park was the disallowed Donegal goal. Colm McFadden's shot was deemed to have entered the goal by way of side-netting.

At half-time Monaghan led by 0-13 to 0-5. A McFadden goal in the second half left his team four points behind. Donegal badly needed another goal, however.
