Monaleen ... 1-10 Adare ... 1-09 Youthful Monaleen bridged a 24-year gap at the Gaelic Grounds yesterday when they pipped double-chasing Adare in their Limerick senior football final replay.
The city side had one hand on the trophy after just 10 minutes play, by which time Muiris Gavin had slotted over four points. Adare fought back and at the end of 60 minutes, it was all to play for when Brian Sexton slotted home a penalty, and in the second minute of injury-time Tommy Byrnes had the chance to equalise with a free from 30 yards, but the ball sailed wide.
