MOUNTAIN MAMA looks a decent bet to reward punters at this evening’s Tote Connacht National meeting in Roscommon.
The featured €25,000 handicap chase is an ultra-trappy 19-runner event so there could be better value in looking at the earlier seven-furlong handicap where Mountain Mama has a lot going for her.
Denis Hogan’s mare returned to action at Listowel last week where only Naked Cowboy got the better of her and the run should be of benefit.
Mountain Mama is also running off an official mark over 2st lower than her career peak, has a decent draw, and will be fine on the forecast soft ground.
Pivot Bridge thrived in soft conditions to win at Leopardstown on Friday night and looks a progressive type good enough to defy a mandatory penalty in the 10-furlong handicap. Cave Artist won even more recently at Navan on Saturday and renews rivalry with Balladiene, who was only just beaten at the weekend.
The going might not be ideal for Laganbank in the first leg of the Beginners’ Chase but the Mullins runner looks better than these while Benash can make it fourth time lucky over fences in the second division.
