Shelbourne - 6 UCD - 0: Unhappy at the loss of six points which cost them the leadership of the Premier Division table in the wake of Dublin City's collapse during the week, Shelbourne scored six times to regain their dominant position in a match graced by a wonderful goal from Joseph Ndo.

Former Cameroon international Ndo was the star of the show even before capping a powerful midfielder performance with a sublime third goal of the night on 54 minutes.

Having got the ball out near the left-hand touchline close to the corner flag, Ndo outfoxed Conor Kenna before skipping past Brian Shortall and then beating goalkeeper Darren Quigley with a rasping low drive to the net at the near post.

A contrary opening had Shelbourne enjoying much of the early possession with UCD creating two decent chances before they fell behind on 13 minutes to a beautifully simple goal.

Dillon's long diagonal ball caught out College left back Darragh Ryan and Shelbourne winger Bobby Ryan took advantage, nipped in behind to cross for Glen Crowe to stab home.

Another direct raid on the students' goal might have brought Shelbourne a second on 26 minutes.

UCD were caught flat footed from Stuart Byrne's header and Jason Byrne might have done better than pull his shot just wide of a post.

Any hope of UCD mounting a comeback suffered a telling blow within a minute of the start of the second half.

The ball inadvertently struck UCD captain Alan McNally on the heel to run kindly for Crowe. He squared it for Jason Byrne, who gratefully accepted the chance to drill home from the edge of the area.

With Ndo having sealed the three points with his super strike, Shelbourne were cruising and Stuart Byrne had a header hacked off the line by UCD centre half Brian Shortall before the north Dublin side added their fourth goal as the game entered its 72nd minute.

Crowe dinked a delightful ball through to Ollie Cahill who held off a defender before shooting past Quigley.

Crowe got his second on 79 minutes when catching Quigley off his line to score with a 35-yard volley - his fifth goal in four games.

Jason Byrne completed the rout when beating Quigley from a free kick eight minutes from the end.
