MUNSTER last night announced the appointments of former captain Mick Galwey and Erins Owen/Mallow GAA clubman Colm Coakley to their senior management structure while Anthony Foley and Paul McCarthy have had their roles enhanced.

Foley, Munster’s most capped player, formerly a technical adviser, assumes the role of assistant coach with additional responsibility for defence while maintaining his function as head coach to the Munster BI Cup side.

McCarthy was a part-time scrum adviser but will now be full-time scrum coach – working with Laurie Fisher and Foley – with additional responsibility for identifying and developing frontrow talent.

Galwey becomes Munster squad adviser, a part-time position that will see him act as mentor for senior and development contracted players.
