Television takes an interest this weekend as the champions Neptune face the cup holders Notre Dame in a pivotal match in the ESB League.
Although there is no team that remains unbeaten after seven weeks, Notre Dame go into the match hoping to rekindle the form that took them to last week's unbeaten five-match run before Demons' surprise victory.
That defeat could throw up doubts as Notre Dame travel to Cork for the TG4 live broadcast from Neptune stadium. While Notre Dame have had the better of Neptune in recent meetings, the margins have never been wide. Stephen McCarthy, however, was the match winner last season in the Arena, scoring on the buzzer to prevent extra time and seal a vital Neptune victory, one that earned them the title.
Notre Dame come into the match after their best ever start to the season and despite last week's loss, the feeling is that so long as they remain in the top two or three until after Christmas they will be involved in the final shake-up.
Brandon Hughes, last month's Player of the Month, was quiet last week and will face another equally tough encounter from Neptune while underage star Ciaran McEvilly is doubtful for the weekend. Portugues player Nuno is still suffering from a back complaint while his compatriot Feliciano has returned home, not having played a match.
Neptune will give a debut to their new 6ft 9in signing, American John Greene from Delaware. He replaces Brian Finlay in the only change in the line-up.
The Saints are riding high at the top of the table but won't be complacent facing into a double header weekend. Tigers come visiting on Saturday and Star of the Sea on Sunday in a demanding if potentially promising series.
Although not peaking just yet, Saints have done enough to win their matches thus far with last week's clash with Killester drawing their best performance of the season.
Miguel Tittmann soared then for the Saints and will hope to do so again as Frosties rely on injury-hit Ricardo Leonard to play but not train midweek. Michael Quirke is back for the game as Frosties try to move from mid-table.
Star of the Sea were the only side to beat the Saints twice last year and come in fresh having only one scheduled match to play. Much will depend on how Saints come through Saturday's contest.
Third placed Waterford face a fully fit Marian, who rested last week after a leaky roof made UCD unplayable.
In the Women's League, Wildcats are back where the feel they belong - at the top of the table - and are the only unbeaten team. But University of Limerick are playing with increasing confidence. However, the first women's Player of the Month, Jillian Hayes, has returned to full health and is a sure boost for Wildcats' drive for the title.
