NEWS ROUND-UP:FAME AND Glory led home Drumbeat for an Aidan O'Brien one-two in the Group One Criterium de Saint-Cloud in Paris yesterday.

The former, who had made a winning debut at Navan last month, travelled strongly for Johnny Murtagh for much of the mile-and-a-quarter contest and was never far off the pace.

The Montjeu colt was under pressure early on, but found plenty to hold off the challenge of his fast-finishing stablemate.

Zafisio, representing Paul Blockley, cut out much of the running but eventually faded into fifth.

It was O'Brien's 23rd Group One winner of a memorable season. Coral reacted swiftly and cut Fame And Glory's 2009 Derby odds from 25 to 1 to 16s.

Meanwhile, Willie Mullins plans to take the wraps off his exciting prospect Hurricane Fly in the Royal Bond Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse at the end of the month.

The son of Montjeu has won two of his three hurdling starts since joining the Co Carlow handler and has also finished second in a Grade One event at Auteuil.

As neither of those successes came until after May of this year, the four-year-old retains his novice status for the coming campaign and Mullins has made no secret of the high regard in which he holds the gelding.

"Hurricane Fly has started back doing fast work again and everything is going well," said Mullins.

"If everything continues to go well, the plan would be to go to the Royal Bond at Fairyhouse (November 30th) and take things from there."

Mullins also has his brilliant bumper performer Cousin Vinny engaged in the Grade One contest.

The five-year-old won the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival and the corresponding race at Punchestown a month later, but is unlikely to make his timber debut in such a hot event.

"Cousin Vinny will probably run in a maiden hurdle somewhere but I don't think he will be ready for the Royal Bond," Mullins added.

Tom Hogan is hoping the ground does not turn heavy for Silver Jaro in the Greatwood Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham on Sunday. The five-year-old was a 50 to 1 stunner for Festival punters in the County Hurdle and is in good form as he returns to the scene of his shock triumph.

"He's very well, but he choked on the very heavy ground in Galway on the Flat last month. Real heavy ground doesn't suit him," said Hogan. "Before he won at Cheltenham last March he went to Clonmel and the same thing happened there over hurdles.

"He doesn't need it very deep. He can handle soft ground but if it's heavy he could be in trouble."

Silver Jaro will be accompanied to Prestbury Park by his stablemate Kirkbybroguelantern, who is likely to run in the Cleanevent Handicap Hurdle on Saturday.

"We have him in on Saturday and Sunday and he could go for the three mile one on the Saturday," added Hogan.
