Irish sportswear manufacturer O’Neills have released a ‘1916 Commemoration Jersey’ which features a harp emblem on the front and a reproduction of the 1916 Proclamation on the back.
Retailing at €55 for adults and €43 for children the description of the jersey on the O’Neills website starts with a line from William Butler Yeats’s poem ‘Easter, 1916’ – ‘All changed, changed utterly: A terrible beauty is born.’
The website points out the establishment of the company in Capel Street in 1918 by Charles O'Neill and how the street " had witnessed much of the fighting and devastation of the Rising".
