ADA O'SULLIVAN will have some high powered company when she defends the Hermitage Ladies Scratch Cup, sponsored by Statoil, at the west Dublin course on Sunday.

Curtis Cup player Eileen Rose Power and reigning Irish champion Barbara Hackett will partner Monkstown's O'Sullivan for the 36 hole event which has attracted a top class entry of 66 players. Power actually showed her current well being when defeating O'Sullivan in the final of the Munster championship last Friday.

Indeed, there is a touch of quality in the field with Hazel Kavanagh, winner of last week's Leinster championship, and Paula Gorman, recent victor in the Cork Scratch Cup, also competing.

Meanwhile, Carol Wickham, of Laytown and Bettystown, won the Heath Scratch Cup last Saturday in an event which was reduced to 27 holes due to rain.
