Offaly 1-13 London 1-5:Offaly recovered from a two-point deficit at half-time to run out comfortable winners over London at Ruislip yesterday.
London made the perfect start when Pádraig McGoldrick found the net from a penalty inside the opening minute and a brace of points from Seán Kelly and a McGoldrick free helped the home side to lead 1-4 to 0-5 at the interval.
However, it was all one-way traffic in the second-half, as Offaly expressed their superiority with relative ease. They kicked five unanswered points before their goal came on 50 minutes through Anton Sullivan and his left-footed finish found the top corner of Evan Byrne’s net.
Even with 20 minutes still to play, it was hard to see a way back for London as they trailed by 1-10 to 1-5 and struggled to get out of their own half. McGoldrick hit the Exiles’ only score of the second half with a point from a 57th-minute free, but two Peter Cunningham points and another from Eoin Carroll sealed Offaly’s win.
