1 What’s your favourite golf tournament (amateur or professional) and why?

It has to be the US Masters at Augusta because of the history of the place, the Green Jacket, and the drama that unfolds around the likes of Amen Corner.

2 Best TV golf memory?

Strangely it’s Bernhard Langer’s missed putt in the Ryder Cup at Kiawah Island in 1991. It’s my first real golf memory, I was only 11. Would also have to say Darren Clarke’s achievement at the Ryder Cup in 2006, or Jean Van de Velde in the water at Carnoustie in 1999.

3 Parkland or links? Why?

Parkland but only because I find them easier to play. Suits my game.

4 What’s your hidden gem of a golf course and why?

Gracehill near Ballymoney. It’s full of water and I’m a glutten for punishment. I love taking on the water hazards, like the challenge.

5 How would you deal with someone you suspected of cheating, would you sign their card?

I’d only sign their card if I beat them. Seriously, would hate to accuse a person of cheating, especially if it’s only a suspicion.

6 If you could introduce one rule how would you combat slow play?

If you’re off the fairway lift your ball and move on. Mind you that would mess up my round. If you’re out of the hole pack your bags.

7 Has equipment technology had a detrimental effect on genuine golfing talent/ability? If so, what changes would you make?

I’ve no issue with technological advances, anything that helps me on a golf course has got to be a good thing.

8 150-yards from the hole, what’s in your hands?

A soft eight iron.

9 Fashion stakes – Pringle or J Lindeberg?

Lindeberg.

10 More comfortable paying for price of a pint or ProV golf ball?

ProV golf ball, I don’t drink.

11 Who is the greatest – Jack Nicklaus or Tiger Woods? Other?

Has to be Tiger Woods. He was just so far in front of everyone else. Mind you I’m not sure he’ll get back to his very best and will therefore struggle to beat Nicklaus’ major record.

12 If you had one final round of golf who would be in fourball and where?

It would be a round on the Old Course at St Andrews alongside Tiger Woods, Steve Redgrave, a major inspiration, and Peter Kay, he’s hilarious.
