Few Olympic journeys rival the road to Rio of the 39-year-old doctor and mother of three. Back in 2000, Jennings won a world title in the lightweight singles, only that wasn’t an Olympic event; she sought a suitable doubles partner in 2004, only that failed too; for 2008, her heavyweight singles aspirations went a little awry, and for London, an attempt in track cycling also fell short. Determined to give it one more shot, and encouraged by former Olympic rower and husband Sam Lynch, her reward finally came last September, at the World Championships, qualifying for Rio with lightweight partner Claire Lambe.
