Robert Splaine, Horse Sport Ireland’s show jumping team manager, today announced his squad of five for the German leg of the Furusiyya Nations’ Cup series at Aachen next week.

This round, and the final one at the RDS in August, provide Ireland’s last two point-scoring chances in the Europe Division 1 league ahead of the September final in Barcelona.

The squad is Shane Breen (Balloon or Cos I Can), Shane Carey (Ballymore Eustace), Dermott Lennon (Loughview Lou Lou), Cian O’Connor (Cooper or Carpe Diem) and Billy Twomey (Tinka’s Serenade or Diaghilev). Splaine will choose a team of four for the Nations’ Cup in which eight teams compete.

Ireland will also have a team in the eventing Nations’ Cup in Aachen: Sarah Ennis (Sugar Brown Babe), Aidan Keogh (Master Tredstep), Joseph Murphy (Electric Cruise) and Austian O’Connor (Ringwood Mississippi).
