UCD must play catch up

Students deducted three points to put them fourth in Leinster First Division

The last unbeaten record in the Leinster First Division was surrendered this week, but not on the pitch. Champions UCD were docked three points for including an unregistered player in their line-up for their September 27th game against Glenanne, which they won 3-1, the result now changed to a 1-0 defeat.

The students, then, drop from first to fourth in the table, but they have games in hand on all the teams above them, including Loreto who they play on Sunday after meeting Old Alexandra at Milltown on Saturday.

Hermes took over from UCD at the top of the table after their crushing 8-0 win over Corinthian on Monday evening, and they too have a double-header this weekend, Trinity their opponents on Saturday, while on Sunday they take on Railway Union. LEINSTER LEAGUE - Division One - Saturday: Corinthian v Glenanne, Whitechurch Park, 2.15; Hermes v Trinity, St Andrews, 1.15; Old Alexandra v UCD, Milltown, 1.30; Railway Union v Pembroke Wanderers, Park Avenue, 2.45. Sunday: Railway v Hermes, Park Avenue, 4.30; UCD v Loreto, Belfield, 4.0.
