Oulart-The-Ballagh had just a goal to spare in Enniscorthy yesterday as they recaptured the Wexford SHC in gritty style. The home club of county heroes Martin Storey and Liam Dunne, they last held the title in 1995. Yesterday's final against Glynn-Barntown at the Belfield ground was a rematch of that decider two years ago, with a similar outcome.

The winners were never headed after Sean Dunne ended a quick breakaway move with a shot to Paul Kiely's net three minutes after the start.

Storey tipped over a neatly executed point a few moments later though there was never any question of this being a runaway victory.

Paul Finn's frees kept Oulart's score ticking over through the first half but a 1-5 to 0-4 interval advantage represented slim pickings after having the wind at their backs.

Certainly, Glynn began to find the target more freely with the breeze to aid them and P. J. Carley's point after 48 minutes drew the sides level.

A fine strike from the left touchline by Pierce Redmond put the eventual winners back on track.

Liam Dunne weighed in with some exquisite long free-taking and Paul Finn drove the decisive nail into the Glynn coffin with a goal on 59 minutes again from a free.

Glynn midfielder, Tommy Kehoe, was fouled 25 yards out in injury time but he mis-hit his attempt at a last ditch equaliser from the placed ball.
