Insult was added to injury when, having lost to Juventus in the Champions' League, the United star then had to cope with the news that 13 per cent of people questioned in a survey, on who should be the next James Bond, had chosen Tellytubby Tinky Winky - only six per cent named Beckham. Villa may suffer the wrath of the ace midfielder tonight.

Tuesday
RTE1 (7.30) - Leargas. Dermot Desmond, who has invested £4 million in Glasgow Celtic, and the club's chairman Fergus McCann are interviewed in this week's Leargas, which profiles Celtic and asks who the club is most loyal to - the financiers or the supporters.

CHANNEL FOUR (10.0) - This Boy's Story. George Best makes an appearance in this film, which follows two brothers who set out from their broken home in search of their football idol. TnaG (10.30) - All-Ireland Gold Football. Tonight's programme features the match chosen by the viewers which brings an end to the successful series.

SKY BOX OFFICE (8.0) - Live Boxing: Naseem Hamed v Kevin Kelley (WBO featherweight title fight). Hamed makes his big American debut in New York - there is also live coverage of Robin Reid's fight against Thulane Malinga (for the WBC supermiddleweight title) in London.

The 1,025th and final edition of Sports Stadium features highlights from the programme's 20-year history (at 12.40), live coverage of Ireland's rugby international against Italy in Bologna (1.30) and the best of the action from the Irish International Badminton Championships (4.0) that took place in Dublin at the weekend.
