WOMEN'S HOCKEY: There can be no doubt about which is the plum tie in tomorrow's second round of the Leinster Senior Cup as the joint league leaders, Pembroke Wanderers and Old Alexandra, face each other at Serpentine Avenue.
Level on 17 points from eight games, the only difference is that Pembroke have registered one more goal (16-15) and it was by no more than 1-0 that they beat Alexandra at Milltown early in the campaign when Orla Bell put away the winner.
With both defences looking resolute, the cup tie is obviously delicately poised, though Trish Conway could well strike decisively for the visitors if Pembroke fail to make good use of their possession (which was the case in the 0-0 draw with Corinthians last Sunday).
Elsewhere, the trophy holders Hermes will have a comfortable passage against Old Alexandra II while the other first-division sides, UCD (v Loreto II), Trinity (v Corinthians II), Genesis (v Clontarf), and Loreto (v Genesis II) will also be expected to advance without undue strain.
The only all second-division tie between Three Rock Ladies and Pembroke II is sure to be keenly contested at Grange Road.
