Cobh Ramblers 0 UCD 0:TWO POTENTIAL relegation sides cancelled each other out at St Colman's Park last night. Save for a few good chances, this contest was ultimately frustrating.
Conor Meade and Davin O'Neill were guilty of bad misses for the home side inside the opening five minutes while referee Neil Doyle had a big call to make in the ninth when Kieran O'Reilly took the ball past Matt Gregg before seeming to go down under the student goalkeepers' challenge. Rather than pointing to the spot, he produced a yellow card.
Aside from a Darren Doyle shot hitting the post it was mostly Cobh and they were awarded a penalty in the 28th minute after an Ian Bermingham challenge on O'Neill. O'Reilly, however, failed to convert from the spot.
Cobh were on top from the restart but it was UCD who almost grabbed the lead in the 61st minute when Paul Byrne's header was saved by James MCarthy.
There were half chances for Graham Cummins and John Kearney as Cobh chased an opener while UCD did come into it as full-time approached.
