The accuracy of Oisin McConville and a superb display from full back Donal Murtagh helped Crossmaglen Rangers to stay on course to retain their Ulster Club football title after they encountered unforeseen hazards at home against Enniskillen Gaels yesterday.

Rangers made life difficult for themselves by conceding midfield authority to the Brewster brothers, Paul and Tom, and failing to subdue the artistry of Enniskillen centre forward Ollie McShea who was behind virtually every attacking move orchestrated by the visitors.

Enniskillen, in fact, had a dream start when Gareth Ckarke, finished a superb eight-man movement by flicking the ball to the net in the second minute.

Crossmaglen's John Donaldson was sent off following an off-the-ball incident, but their resilience, not for the first time, stood them in good stead in the closing stages.
