A POINT by Ger Power in the 58th minute earned Waterford champions Rathgormack a deserved draw with All Ireland club champions Laune Rangers in the semi final of the Munster club championship at Dungarvan yesterday.

The Waterford side led by 0-4 to 0-0 at half time having played with the breeze. Rathgormack were completely on top in the opening quarter and their lead would have been even greater if their normally dependable free taker Martin Power had converted five scoreable frees - all of his efforts dropped short of the target.

Laune Rangers were thrown a lifeline two minutes from halftime when they were awarded a penalty after Conor Kearney was fouled as he broke through for a goal. But Tommy Byrne's shot was superbly saved by goalkeeper Pat Fahy.

Laune Rangers were a transformed team in the opening period of the second half and they slotted over three points in as many minutes to leave only one point between the sides.

They went ahead for the first time seven minutes into the second half when half time substitute Pa O'Sullivan netted to put them 1-3 to 0-4 in front. When Paul Griffin and O'Sullivan added points to put the Kerry side four points ahead with 10 minutes left their expected passage to the provincial final seemed to have become a reality.

However, Rathgormack hit back, with Francis Halpin scoring their goal in the 53rd minute and then Ger Power getting the equaliser two minutes from time to - force a replay in Killorglin next Sunday.
