Colleges hurlingGood Counsel 3-10 St Peter's 1-4 Three goals in the opening 12 minutes of the game set Good Counsel College, New Ross, up for the easiest of victories over a poor St Peter's College, Wexford, side in their Leinster Colleges A senior hurling championship quarter-final at Grantstown yesterday.

Good Counsel produced a storming start to the game with the first of those goals arriving as early as the fifth minute through Shane Roche, while further goals from Pat Raftice and Roche had the eventual winners leading by 3-2 to no score.

Two points from David Goff frees gave St Peter's College brief hope but the Good Counsel dominance was to continue and they led 3-5 to 0-2 at the interval.

In the second half Good Counsel simply went through the motions with the only goal of the second period going to St Peter's full forward Seán Óg Whelan whose overhead flick from a Goff free left it 3-7 to 1-4 with 12 minutes remaining.
