Paris St Germain's Ronaldinho is happy with a proposed deal to take him to Manchester United and now only needs the Ligue 1 club to approve the move, his agent and brother Roberto Assis said yesterday.
Assis indicated that the World Cup-winning star had no problems with the terms offered by United, who look to have seen off competition from Real Madrid and Barcelona.
A delegation from Nantes will arrive in England today hoping to finalise the transfer of Eric Djemba-Djemba to United.
David Bellion is also likely to arrive at Old Trafford this week after the expiry of the 20-year-old forward's Sunderland contract yesterday.
Hughes staying put
Wales manager Mark Hughes admitted yesterday that while he was "flattered" at being linked with a return to Manchester United he would not walk away from his national team job with Wales.
Alex Ferguson's former number two at Old Trafford, Carlos Queiroz, was reported as claiming that United wanted to lure Hughes back to his former club. But Hughes said: "It is extremely flattering to have your name linked with jobs. But the facts of the matter are that I am Wales manager, I've started a job here and I want to see it through."
Sheringham signs
Teddy Sheringham believes he still has plenty to offer as a player after joining Portsmouth on a one-year contract yesterday.
"The lure of the Premiership is still there," Sheringham told a news conference after completing his move to Fratton Park. "I still think I've got something to offer, so when (manager) Harry Redknapp) came calling I only had to listen."
FA charge Warnock
Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock was yesterday charged with two counts of misconduct by the English FA.
The first charge relates to allegations Warnock brought the game into disrepute with comments about referee Graham Poll following the FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal on April 13th.
The second charge relates to allegations of improper conduct and using insulting and/or abusive words towards referee Steve Bennett at half-time during the Division One play-off final against Wolves.
Inter monitor Giggs
Inter Milan directors admit they are monitoring the form of Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs and Arsenal's Fredrik Ljungberg - but say no formal bid has been lodged for either player yet.
Inter have long been reported to be following Giggs, with yesterday's Gazzetta dello Sport stating Nerazzurri president Massimo Moratti would fly to Manchester this week to talk to United chiefs.
Meanwhile, Arsenal pair Ljungberg and Robert Pires have also been linked with the San Siro club, although interest in Frenchman Pires seems to have cooled since the signing by Inter of Sabri Lamouchi.
In brief ...
Arsene Wenger is ready to make Colombia's Oscar Cordoba his replacement for David Seaman in the Arsenal goal. Chelsea's French defender William Gallas has received an offer from Barcelona and has not yet had his contract with the English club renewed. Liverpool are prepared to offer Harry Kewell wages of up to £60,000 a week to entice the Australian across the Pennines from Leeds. The 24-year-old is due to return to pre-season training at Elland Road early next week but he hopes to resolve his future over the next few days.
