Connacht’s Kieran Marmion and Nathan White have both been cited by ERC after round six of the Heineken Cup pool stages.
Scrumhalf Marmion is alleged to have struck Saracens replacement Neil de Kock in the second half of the province’s 64-6 defeat the at Allianz Park, while prop White was yellow carded by referee Leighton Hodges after his boot made contact with the face of Brad Barritt.
Both complaints were made by Scottish citing officer Richard McGhee and Welshman Roger Morris has been appointed as the independent judicial officer for the hearings, which will take place in Dublin on Thursday.
Edinburgh backrow Cornell Du Preez will also be in Dublin on Thursday. He is “alleged to have struck” Munster secondrow and Ireland captain Paul O’Connell with his head in the first half at Thomond Park. Du Preez was sin-binned by referee Wayne Barnes (England).
Both he and Marmion face a minimum of four weeks if found guilty at the ‘low end’ of the scale. A mid range offence carries with it a 10-week ban, while at the top of the scale there is a sanction of anything from a 16 weeks to two years.
If guilty, White faces two weeks (low end), five weeks (mid range) or nine to 52 weeks (top end) on the sidelines.
Ospreys secondrow Ian Evans, who was shown a straight red card for stamping on Leinster lock Mike McCarthy is also expected in Dublin on Thursday to answer that charge. A player dismissed from the field of play is automatically obliged to attend a hearing.
