Vern Cotter has reinforced his Scotland RBS Six Nations squad by calling up five further players ahead of Saturday's match against Italy, Scottish Rugby announced.

Sale scrumhalf Chris Cusiter and Exeter Chiefs prop Moray Low come in after recovering from the injuries that kept them out of the initial selection, while Edinburgh number eight David Denton returns after a calf tear suffered in the pre-Championship training camp last month.

Glasgow Warriors pair Adam Ashe and Alex Allan have also been added as replacements for their club team-mates Jon Welsh and Gordon Reid, who are out with hand and knee injuries respectively.

The five new call-ups joined their team-mates in training on Monday morning.
