Rugby: Clermont Auvergne outhalf Brock James is keen to "get stuck into" Leinster after help to propel the French club into the Heineken Cup semi-finals following a 22-3 victory over Saracens at Vicarage Road on Sunday.
They will take on the reigning champions Leinster at Stade Chaban Delmas in Bordeaux on Sunday, April 29th.The Australian has a special reason for wanting to go well against the Irish province as he missed several kicks, both drop and placed ball, when Clermont lost a quarter-final to Leinster at the RDS in 2010.
James admitted: “Leinster won the competition last year and they beat us a few years ago, and have had a good victory in the quarter-final, but we have put more importance in the Heineken Cup this season. We are keen to get stuck into them.”
After ending their long wait for a French title in 2012, Clermont, celebrating their centenary this year, have placed added importance on Europe’s top competition in recent seasons and James admitted that it has moved up the agenda in the current campaign.
“We have talked about the Heineken Cup a little bit more than we normally do. We have decided as a group it is something we want to achieve this season. We have taken the next step to the semi-final and we have a difficult match against Leinster, but we will prepare as well as we can for that.”
