South Africa have secured the services of former Australia coach Eddie Jones as their technical advisor for the World Cup finals.

"Eddie brings with him a wealth of international experience and knowledge," a statement from the South African camp read.

"We believe that his vast knowledge of the game and his outstanding coaching credentials will be of great benefit and significance to the Springboks as they prepare their challenge for the Rugby World Cup crown."

Jones said he was pleased to be part of the Springbok team.

"I am really delighted to help (coach) Jake (White) as he prepares the team for the Rugby World Cup. This is a very professional and committed unit and the players and team management are determined to leave no stone unturned in their planning."

Jones coached the Wallabies to the 2003 World Cup final and was employed as coach of the Queensland Reds until three months ago when he quit.

South Africa have been drawn in Pool A along with England, Samoa, the United States and Tonga for the tournament which starts in France on September 7th.
