Jonny O'Connor has ended speculation linking him with a move back to Ireland with either Leinster or Munster by signing a new deal with Wasps.
O'Connor moved to Wasps from Connacht back in 2003, winning 12 Ireland caps in the interim, and is keen to extend his stay and challenge for further honours with the London side.
"It was a pretty simple decision - I just wanted to stay around," explained O'Connor. "'I think the fact that Eoin Reddan and a couple of the lads coming over here has made it feel a bit more homely for me. 'It is good having the other Irish lads around and I've really enjoyed it this year."
The 26-year-old flanker remains confident that plying his trade in the Guinness Premiership won't affect his international prospects and believes the experience gained with the London side can only stand to him.
"I think that, in the IRFU's selectors' minds, they are probably happier that I'm over here because I've gained more experience and game-time," he explained. 'I'm playing with a top-club, so I think they are actually quite happy that I'm here."
