Argentina coach Marcelo Loffreda has been forced into a string of changes for Saturday's second Test with Ireland in Buenos Aires, with Felipe Contepomi the most notable absentee as he jets back to Dublin to graduate in medicine.
Biarritz trio Marcelo Bosch, Martin Gaitan and Manuel Carizza are also ruled out due to domestic club commitments in the French Top 14 semi-finals, but despite the absentees the hosts still look as dangereous.
"Dr Phil" scored 17 points including the match winning drop goal during last weekend's 22-20 defeat and will be a loss, especially if Ireland discipline lets them down as badly as it did in Santa Fe.
That said, his replacement Federico Todeschini, though not as dynamic, is capable of winning games, as he showed in Twickenham last November when he scored 22 points in Argentina's 25-18 victory over England.
He will be supplied by the experienced Bayonne scrumhalf Nicolas Fernandez Miranda.
The Contepomi family will be represented on the pitch by Felipe's brother Manuel, who will start at inside centre. He was released by his club Rovigo last week so has a point to prove when he lines out opposite Gavin Duffy and Barry Murphy.
His midfield partner Hernan Senillosa, who scored Argentina's only try in Santa Fe, was initially dropped from the 22-man squad but retains his place in the side due to a lack of options for Loffreda.
The formidable Perpignan lock Rimas Alvarez has also been recalled along with Hindu's Juan de la Cruz Fernandez Miranda.
Montpellier flanker Martin Durand will captain the side, while hooker Pablo Gambarini replaces Alberto Vernet Basualdo and Federico Serra comes in at fullback.
Number eight Juan Manuel Leguizamon of London Irish and Sale lock Juan Fernandez Lobbe switch places in a revamped pack. Tomas de Vedia, who made his senior debut last weekend, will win a second cap.
"There are several areas where we need to improve, especially in defence," said Leguizamon. "We played well last weekend, but we must play better as it will be a tougher game."
For his part, Loffreda is looking for a performance rather than a result.
"We have to improve our game. The score is not relevant for us," said the Argentinian when naming his side.
Agen prop Eusebio Guinazu, Montauban prop Pablo Henn also return to the squad following club commitments in France, while Leeds flanker Martin Schusterman also returns.
