South African Zane Kirchner will be available to Leinster when Castres come to visit on Saturday, after his arrival in Dublin last week.

The versatile Springbok back, who can play fullback, outside centre or on the wing, was late to these shores because of his involvement in The Rugby Championship, but he is expected to be included in the matchday squad this week.

Lote Tuqiri, who was signed on a three-month deal to cover Kirchner’s absence in the early stages of the season, is unlikely to be involved as he continues rehab from a hamstring injury.

"It is hoped" Brian O'Driscoll can resume training this week and he may come into the reckoning after missing the Heineken Cup opener against Ospreys on Saturday with a troublesome calf strain. Prop Mike Ross, who limped off early in that game after tweaking his hamstring will be monitored this week and "given every opportunity".
