Soccer Spanish Cup final: David Beckham may have revealed he does not think the Spanish Copa del Rey creates the aura that the FA Cup generates in England.
But Real Madrid goalkeeper Cesar Sanchez can hardly wait for tonight's final against Zaragoza to kick off.
Cesar may be reserve to Iker Casillas in the Primera Liga, but Madrid coach Carlos Queiroz has put his faith in him in the cup and should do so again at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona.
The game is a repeat of the 1993 final, which Madrid won 2-0, but that was the last time Madrid lifted the cup and there is a real desire in the capital to win it again after what many consider too long without cup success.
That has sparked some debate as to whether Cesar should play in the final, but 38 days after his last appearance, he is hoping for his chance.
"I don't consider it important that I have not played for that long," said the 33-year-old.
"The person who has to decide is the coach and I would like to think that he will be objective and do what he feels is best. I'm not sure if I'm going to play or not."
Cesar has experience playing in a major final. He was first choice for Real Madrid in the 2002 Champions League final against Bayer Leverkusen, only to have the bad luck of picking up an injury during the game.
That allowed Casillas to come on as substitute, with the youngster making several crucial saves as Madrid won 2-1. While Casillas became a national hero, Cesar was relegated to the bench.
Traditionally Zaragoza have done well in the Cup, their last victory coming three years ago when they beat Celta Vigo 3-1 in Sevilla.
