JUMP RACING in Britain was yesterday facing the possible wipe out of a rich Saturday programme for the second week running due to frost and snow.

Valuable cards at Sandown, Chepstow and Wetherby tomorrow are each in danger of going the same way as last weekend's abandoned meetings.

Prospects for the Agfa Diamond Chase meeting at Sandown had risen during the week but took a turn for the worse following a return to arctic weather.

Prospects are not bright at Chepstow, where 20 per cent of the course is still frozen.

But hopes are higher at Wetherby where tomorrow's meeting is due to feature the £15,000 added Marston Moor Handicap Chase.

A course spokeswoman said: "We had a very slight frost overnight and there is still a bit of snow on the track but the groundsman is optimistic."
