European Cup Pool Four:Alan Gaffney's Saracens made history at Hughenden last night by securing their first appearance in the Heineken Cup quarter-finals - and a home one at that - after their 21-17 win.

Glasgow's European dream was ended by a contentious video verdict. Saracens were awarded a highly dubious try by television judge Brian Fitzgerald.

Early on the Glasgow defence dithered allowing Richard Haughton to sneak in to win the race to reach a kick ahead as it trundled across the line.

Irish referee Alan Lewis awarded the try on the say-so of video assistant Fitzgerald - despite compelling evidence the ball was marginally out of play.

GLASGOW: Tries: Stortoni. Pens: Parks 4.

SARACENS: Tries: Haughton, Jackson. Cons: Jackson.
