News round-upThe GAA yesterday staged a dedication ceremony in Croke Park, where various sections of the stadium were named after figures from the association's past.

Former presidents Maurice Davin and Frank Dineen (also a former general secretary) and former secretaries Luke O'Toole, Pádraig Ó Caoimh and Seán Ó Síocháin are among those to have sections named in their honour.

These include the Davin Stand, formerly the Canal End, and the Dineen/Hill 16 terrace. The Ó Síocháin Suite is the new name for the Ashe Suite in the Cusack Stand, Seomra Uí Chaoimh is the new Central Council meeting room, and Seomra Uí Thuathail the new Management Committee meeting room.

The Nally Terrace was rededicated to the memory of PW Nally while the media centre and press box in the Hogan Stand has been named in memory of broadcaster Mícheál Ó Hehir.

Also announced were the GAA's Cúl Camps, in association with the VHI. The Gaelic games camps will be staged countrywide from July 3rd. Attendance is open to primary school children aged seven to 13, and registration details can be found on the GAA website (www.gaa.ie).

Meanwhile, the throw-in times for Sunday's National League matches were fixed at 3.30pm as usual, thus avoiding any further confrontation with the Gaelic Players Association (GPA). The GPA have asked all counties to delay the starting times for 15 minutes as a form of protest over player-welfare issues, which left the GAA considering having starting times of 3.15pm.

"We decided that wouldn't achieve anything," said a spokesperson for the GAA.
