When Brandi Chastain whipped off the top half of her kit after scoring the winner for the United States in the women's World Cup soccer final against China, she made herself a very wealthy woman indeed.

In what she describes as a gesture of "momentary insanity," the 28-year-old university soccer coach from San Jose, California, fell to her knees in front of the 90,000 crowd revealing a black Nike sports bra underneath her white jersey. Marketing experts now say that Chastain's "exposure" could net the company over $40 million from sales of the bra to young Brandi wannabes. The firm are also seeking to buy the rights to the photographs of the moment.

Not a shy girl, Brandi recently appeared nude for Gear magazine, so by her own previous standards she was well covered up. The sequence after she scored the goal however is likely to ensure that Nike will now sell more black bras than they can produce!
