Holder Frank O'Donoghue (Templebreedy) will face a host of top contenders when he defends the Donnelly Cup men's national pitch and putt strokeplay championship at the Fermoy course in Cork next weekend. The senior event will boast five former champions - John Walsh ('97), Sean Downes ('93/'94), Liam O'Brien ('96), Chris Scannell ('95) and David Hayden ('87) a field of 80. Leading Cork qualifier, Jim Shine will start favourite for the junior event, while in the intermediate section William Cahill, David Sexton and Shane Higgins will carry the hopes of the host club.
