Galway SF Semi-finals/ Corofin 1-13 Caherlistrane 0-9: Favourites Corofin marched into the Galway senior football final when a superb second-half display saw off the gutsy challenge of Caherlistrane at Tuam Stadium last evening.

A goal from Galway player Gary Sice, when he burst forward from his wing-back position after 40 minutes, killed off the challenge of last year's intermediate winners and set Corofin up for a tilt at their eighth Galway title since 1991.

Caherlistrane led by 0-5 to 0-4 at the interval, thanks largely to the accuracy of Cormac Bane from frees.

But Corofin stepped up several gears after the restart and took control of the midfield exchanges. They scored three points without reply, with Thomas Costelloe landing two good frees and David Morris finding the range from play.

Morris set up Sice for the decisive goal before skipper Alan O'Donovan turned the screw.

He kicked four points from a variety of angles to kill off any chance of a comeback.
