HAVING enjoyed plenty of success over hurdles, most notably when winning the Galway Hurdle on Mystical City this summer, David Casey scored his biggest win over fences with Lord Singapore in the £15,000 Troytown Handicap Chase at Navan yesterday.

Lord Singapore, trained by John Joe Walsh, got the better of a determined Heist rising to the last and stretched clear on the run in to win by over three lengths. Johnny Setaside, the 11 to 8 favourite and a stable companion of the runner-up, was 14 lengths back.

The winner now goes for the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown at Christmas, according to Walsh, who commented: "He was due a nice win like this as he has been very consistant.

Michael Hourigan has been left without a jockey for his top novice chaser Dorans Pride, as the gelding's regular rider, Shane Broderick, picked up an eight-day suspension for making "insufficient effort" on Clady Boy in the Crossakiel Maiden Hurdle, in which Clady Boy, an unconsidered 66 to 1 chance, finished 11th behind Delphi Lodge, and his trainer Syl Kirk was fined £250 for "using the racecourse as a training ground".

Dorans Pride is due to clash with Danoli in the Drinmore Chase at Fairyhouse on the first of December. A change in tactics has worked wonders for Tartooth, which followed up on his recent pillar to post success at Galway when making all the running to win the Monksfield Novice Hurdle.

Arthur Moore's nicely backed 5 to 2 chance was clear when the chasing 8 to 13 favourite Liss De Paor fell at the penultimate flight, as she had done on her last visit to the course.

Aidan O'Brien and Charlie Swan, trainer and rider of Liss De Paor, had earlier won the Tara 3-Y-O Maiden Hurdle with the easy-to-back Highly Motivated, which will now be rested with a view the Dennys Juvenile Hurdle at Leopardstown next month.
