Atletico Madrid coach Javier Aguirre has brushed off speculation linking star striker Sergio Aguero with Manchester City, insisting the Argentinian youngster is happy where he is.
Aguero has developed into the one of the game's most highly-rated fowards over the last couple of years at Atletico and inevitably that has led to speculation of big-money bids for the 20-year-old, whose contract buy-out clause is €50million.
Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Chelsea are among the sides who have been linked to Aguero, while the latest outfit are Manchester City, who are believed to have had scouts at Atletico's Primera Liga match against Getafe on Wednesday to check out the striker.
However, Aguirre is confident the former Independiente striker will not be quitting the Vicente Calderon club any time soon, saying after his side's 2-1 win over Getafe: "On the subject of him possibly leaving, he has a contract here, he is happy here and I'm sure that is going to want to stay.
"Sergio, I truly believe, is going to do very good things here."
Aguero joined Atletico from Independiente in the summer of 2006 for a fee reportedly in the region of €20million, and has four years left on his current contract.
Atletico earlier told skysports.com that they have not been approached by City over the Argentina international.
Sources from the Primera Liga side confirmed that there has been no contact between the two clubs.
"There is no news on this subject, neither City or any other club have contacted us about Kun and Atletico is not interested in seeing the exit of this player," the sources confirmed.
The player himself has always stated his desire is to remain with Atletico.
"My head is with Atletico and I am happy here," he said earlier this month.
